A Portrait of a Blind Girl

Based on a novel 'Kwang Hwa Sa' by Dong-In Kim (public domain)
Written by YounYoung Park
Additional Music and Lyrics by Daniel Larsen

The Longing for Perfection in Imperfect Beings

"I will paint her—the most beautiful woman in the world..."
A tragic painter who creates the most breathtaking paintings but remains in seclusion, tormented by his own disfigured appearance.

"Can I really see the world?"
A blind girl with the most beautiful eyes, yet forever unable to see.

"I'm your wife?!"
A woman taking shape under the painter’s brush—a flawless beauty, yet merely an illusion, forever beyond his reach.

Inspired by Kim Dong-in’s novel Gwanghwasa, this musical blends a passionate story with modern harmonies and traditional Korean music. More than a simple aesthetic pursuit, it delves into the yearning for perfection among incomplete beings, presented through a visually striking structure and a shocking conclusion.

A one-night tale told by three actors and three musicians on a single set.
It sets a new standard for intimate theatre, striving to expand beyond Korea to North America and Europe, offering a fresh vision of Korean musical theatre to the global stage.
